The U.S. News and World Report 2021-2022 has just released it rankings of the best high schools in the United States, and only two high schools in Lake County were ranked this year.
Lakeview High School (LHS) and North Lake School made the rankings, but Paisley Charter School did not.
tHE United State News and World Report released an annual ranking of the best high schools, and for the 2021 list, it used data from the 2018 – 2019 school year. It bases its rankings on a variety of factors including test scores, college readiness and graduation rates. Neither LHS nor North Lake School had a score for college readiness, as this score is based on how many students passed either Advanced Placement classes or International Baccalaureate classes.
The North Lake School placed 149 in Oregon and 12,089 in the national ranking with a score of 32.3 out of 100. Its reading, math and graduation rates are lower than LHS. Its math proficiency score was one point below the state median of 30, while its reading proficiency score was 71 — one point above the state median. The graduation rate is 88% which puts it right around the state average.
The LHS ranked 83 out of 256 in Oregon and 7,928 in the national ranking. It received a score of 55.6 out of a 100. Its graduation rate places it as one of the highest in Oregon at 92%. Students tested higher than the median average in both math and reading, with a larger increase in the reading score than the math score — good enough to place in the top 35 out of all Oregon high schools.
Since these scores are based on standardized and Advanced Placement tests, it is not known how U. S. News will calculate the results for 2022 using the data for 2020 as many states did not have standardized tests.
